privacy policy

This policy explains what information blackradio ("we", "us") collects when you use blackradio at https://blackrad.io (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.

Information you give us:

• Account information — your email address, used to sign you in with a magic link, and an optional display name.
• Music preferences — artists you pick during onboarding, artists you suggest, and the taste profile we build from those picks.
• Activity on the Service — votes, likes, saved items, and predictions you enter in contests.
• Email preferences — which emails you have chosen to receive.

Information collected automatically:

• Viewing activity — which videos are played, when, and a random per-browser-session identifier, linked to your account if you are signed in.
• Referrals — if you arrive through a share link, which user referred you and which video was shared.
• Account activity — when you last used the Service.
• Technical data — IP address, browser type, and request logs recorded by our hosting and infrastructure providers.

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To personalize stations and recommendations to your taste.
• To count votes, run prediction contests, and identify and contact winners.
• To credit referrals and grant referral bonuses.
• To send the emails you have opted into, such as digests and contest results, and service messages.
• To understand how the Service is used, fix problems, and prevent abuse.

If you enter a prediction contest, your display name and a masked version of your email address may be shown on contest pages and results. Your full email address is never shown to other users.

We share information only with providers that help us run the Service, for that purpose only:

• Supabase — database and authentication.
• Resend — sending email.
• Netlify — website hosting.
• YouTube (Google) — videos are played through embedded YouTube players, which may set cookies and collect data under Google's privacy policy.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the Service, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

We use cookies to keep you signed in, and your browser's local storage to remember things like your referral link, viewing session, and in-progress contest guesses. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. Embedded YouTube players may set their own cookies.

• Email — turn email types on or off at any time in notification settings.
• Deletion — delete your account and associated data at any time from your profile.
• Access and correction — email privacy@blackrad.io to request a copy of your data or correct it. We will respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity.
• Depending on where you live (for example California, other U.S. states, the EU, or the UK), you may have additional rights under local law. Contact us to exercise them; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must keep it to comply with the law or resolve disputes. Aggregated statistics that do not identify you may be kept.

We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls on our database. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact privacy@blackrad.io and we will delete it.

The Service is operated from the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.

We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or on the Service.
